ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND HEALTH IS NOT GUARANTEED ONCE THE GOAT LEAVES MY PROPERTY.
Goats are herd animals so you definitely need at least 2 to keep each other company. If you strictly want pets I recommend getting wethers, which are castrated males. Because they are castrated, they lack the hormones to become a stinky buck and don't have the desire to fight during their rut or breeding season. Also, does can be very loud and destructive when they come into heat every 21 days starting as early as 6 months old. Wethers have great personality! With does you still have to worry about them going in to heat, some get very noisy for a few days, every 3 weeks. All our goats are disbudded (horn buds removed to prevent horn growth) so there is no concern about the kids being hurt by horns. All goats will try to head butt, you need to let the goat know it's not appropriate behavior and they will stop. Also, never push on the top of a goats head, they will take that as a challenge and try to head butt. Medical castration is very dangerous so we band, there is no additional cost to band for castration. 4-H shows usually only allow does to be shown but sometimes allow wethers too, you would need to consult with your goat leader or fair committee. I will start evaluating them at 3 months to see if they are ready to castrate, they may not be ready until 4-6 months of age. I totally understand if waiting up to 6 months will not work for you. Please understand that we are a show goat herd, not a pet breeder. Although other breeders will gladly castrate at 2 months old, we believe that is too early and often comes with complications later in life. We also want to be sure that we do a clean castration so there isn't "anything" left behind and both testicles are removed.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE A SALE IF WE FEEL YOU ARE NOT ADEQUATELY EQUIPPED TO CARE FOR OUR GOAT(S).
